Renzi’s Salvo

The week before I left on our adventure I wrote a salvo for the Saxum team.

April 16, 2018

  1. Don’t be afraid.
  2. Trust first.
  3. The team did it.
  4. Listen. Stop thinking about what you are about to say.
  5. Do your homework.
  6. You are an expert.
  7. Forgive yourself for mistakes.
  8. Be BOLD. Every day.
    – Be Brave. Have Courage.
    – Be Original. Create something new that stands out.
    – Be Lively. It’s not worth losing sleep.
    – Be Driven. Live each day with urgency.
  9. The world is changing. Push yourself to change too.
  10. Stop complaining. It is a waste of time.
  11. See the very best in your co-workers.
  12. Bring solutions.
  13. Try very hard to understand the motivations of others.
  14. Seek simplicity in every deliverable. Complexity is bad marketing and communication.
  15. Understand that agency life is a balance of order and chaos.
  16. If you love systems. Be patient. If you hate systems. Be patient.
  17. Help others. Genuinely look for opportunities to assist.
  18. We are artisans. Be excellent in your craft.
  19. There is a role for everyone to play.
  20. You owe it to yourself to be open and honest.
  21. The true cost of our culture is excellence. It is expected 24/7.
  22. It is not fair if poor work and attitudes are acceptable and tolerated.
  23. Look in the mirror first.
  24. Blank slate. Starting now.
  25. Be “all in” knowing it may be tough and you may have to blindly trust it will be recognized.
  26. When in doubt, just go.
